Adom (they/them/theirs),
Executive Director
I am Adom (they/them/theirs), a non-binary queer person with a background in Economics and Finance, and a deep passion for building spaces where queer youth can feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead. My journey is rooted in the belief that queer youth leadership, equity, and economic independence are essential to true liberation — and that mental health is at the heart of it all.
My activism comes from a simple but powerful belief: when queer young people are given the tools, confidence, and opportunities to lead, we transform not just our own lives but the world around us.
As the Executive Director of YAEF, I bring together my love for innovation, creativity, and community building to push for equity and economic independence for queer youth in Ghana. I see YAEF as more than an organization — it is a safe haven, a family, and a spark of hope for those who have been told they do not belong.
I am also a fashion enthusiast — for me, fashion is storytelling. It is how I express my identity, challenge the status quo, and my belief that visibility is power. Every project we take on at YAEF is an extension of that same spirit: bold, authentic, diverse, and rooted in the idea that our voices and stories matter.
Through my work, I envision a future where queer youth in Ghana are not just surviving but thriving mentally strong, economically independent; and also, not just seen but celebrated as innovators, leaders, and changemakers, rewriting what inclusion and equity truly mean.

Programs Officer
Boahemaa (she/they)
Programs Officer
I am Boahemaa (she/they), a cis woman, a queer person, a writer, community organizer, feminist, and advocate. I believe that our struggles are deeply interconnected; none of us experience oppression in isolation. As a feminist, I approach my work through the lens of equity, care, and resistance — understanding that true liberation must dismantle all systems of oppression, not just those that directly affect us.
As a Programs Officer at YAEF, I show up with presence and intention, where I bring this belief to life by ensuring that every project or program centers the needs, safety, and empowerment of queer youth. My feminism shows up in how I listen, collaborate, and create, ensuring that our programs are not only inclusive but also transformative. Whether through the initiatives I lead, the words I write, or the spaces I help shape, my goal is to make our collective liberation tangible and real through equitable justice and belonging for every young queer person.
I remain hopeful that through YAEF’s continued work, no young person will ever feel disconnected from community or hope because of the systems we live in. I know this future is possible because YAEF is already laying the foundation and all it takes is one intentional act of courage at a time.
